Search Performance explained
Search Performance uses Search Console data to show patterns in clicks, impressions and average positions. Positions are averages from Search Console, not live rankings shown at the moment someone searches.
If Search Console is disconnected, Nice Rank shows “Connect Search Console” rather than zeros. That distinction matters: missing data is not evidence of no performance. Read the connection state before drawing a conclusion from the view.
Search guidance is most helpful when it supports a thoughtful next step rather than a promise about performance. Look at the evidence behind a number, connect it to the business question you are trying to answer and keep the resulting work practical. The goal is a clearer priority and a more useful page, not an isolated metric.
How to approach it
- 01
Confirm Search Console is connected
Use the connection prompt if the report says the data source is not connected.
- 02
Read patterns over time
Use clicks, impressions and average position as context for search work.
- 03
Avoid live-rank claims
Treat positions as Search Console averages, not a guarantee of what every searcher sees.
